Land Development Laborer
Job Summary
We are seeking a dependable, hardworking Land Development Laborer to join our construction team. This position supports all phases of site development, including grading, utility installation, excavation, and general site preparation. The ideal candidate is safety-conscious, works well in a team environment, and is willing to perform a variety of physically demanding tasks while assisting equipment operators and skilled tradespeople.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform general labor associated with land development and site construction.
- Assist with site grading, excavation, and trenching operations.
- Install underground utilities including storm, sanitary sewer, water, electrical conduit, and drainage systems.
- Load, unload, and transport construction materials, tools, and equipment.
- Assist with pipe laying, backfilling, and compaction.
- Assist with the operation of construction equipment as qualified.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site.
- Follow all company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and crew members.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods.
- Strong work ethic, dependability, and willingness to learn.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in land development, utility construction, grading, or general construction.
- Experience operating construction equipment such as skid steers, mini excavators, loaders, or excavators.
- Knowledge of underground utility installation and construction safety practices.
Physical Requirements
To perform this job successfully, an employee must be able to:
- Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 75 pounds.
- Stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, and crawl throughout the workday.
- Work in trenches, uneven terrain, and confined spaces when required.
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and humidity.
- Safely use construction equipment.
- Work extended hours or overtime as needed to meet project schedules.
Work Environment
- Outdoor construction sites with exposure to dust, mud, noise, heavy equipment, and changing weather conditions.
- Work around moving machinery and active construction operations.
- Compliance with all company safety procedures and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements is mandatory.
Schedule
- Full-time
- Monday through Friday
- Day Shift
- Typical work hours: 7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
- Overtime and occasional weekend work may be required based on project needs.
Pay
Starting at $20.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
