Field Supervisor / Project Manager

Position Summary
The Field Supervisor/Project Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing mitigation banking projects from implementation through long-term stewardship. This position serves as the primary field leader, ensuring restoration, construction, planting, monitoring, and maintenance activities are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory requirements, project plans, and company standards.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who is comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions, managing multiple projects simultaneously, supervising field crews and subcontractors, and serving as a liaison between project stakeholders, regulatory agencies, and company management.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Project Management
- Manage mitigation bank construction, restoration, enhancement, and maintenance projects.
- Develop project schedules, budgets, and work plans.
- Coordinate resources, equipment, materials, and personnel to meet project objectives.
- Monitor project progress and provide regular status updates to company leadership.
- Identify project risks and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Ensure projects remain on schedule and within budget.
Field Operations
- Supervise daily field activities including earthwork, stream restoration, wetland restoration, planting, invasive species management, and site maintenance.
- Conduct regular site inspections to verify compliance with approved design plans and permit requirements.
- Operate or oversee the operation of field equipment and vehicles.
- Collect field data and document project activities through reports, photographs, and GPS mapping.
- Ensure quality control standards are maintained throughout project implementation.
Personnel Management
- Lead, train, and supervise field technicians, operators, and subcontractors.
- Assign daily work activities and provide technical guidance.
- Conduct performance evaluations and support employee development.
- Foster a positive and safety-focused work environment.
Environmental Compliance
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
- Coordinate with regulatory agencies, consultants, and landowners as required.
- Assist with permit compliance inspections and monitoring activities.
- Maintain accurate project documentation and records.
Health and Safety
- Promote and enforce company safety policies and procedures.
- Conduct job site safety meetings and inspections.
- Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Investigate and report incidents, accidents, and near misses.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Ecology, Natural Resources, Forestry, Biology, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience managing field-based environmental restoration, construction, land management, or mitigation projects.
- Experience supervising crews and managing subcontractors.
- Knowledge of wetland, stream, and habitat restoration practices.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, site plans, and specifications.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with mitigation banking, conservation banking, or ecological restoration projects.
- Knowledge of Section 404 permitting, Clean Water Act requirements, and environmental compliance standards.
- Experience using GPS, GIS software, and field data collection tools.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
- First Aid/CPR certification.
- Commercial pesticide applicator license or ability to obtain.
- Prescribed Fire Experience.
- Mechanical experience – small engine and vehicle engine repair.
- Drone operation experience.
- Native and non-native plant identification.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Frequent walking on uneven terrain, wetlands, streams, and remote project sites.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to operate ATVs, UTVs, trucks, swamp buggies, airboats and field equipment.
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, climb, and hike for extended periods.
Work Environment
- Approximately 70-80% field work and 20-30% office/project management duties.
- Frequent travel to project sites throughout the service area.
- Occasional overnight travel may be required.
- Work may involve exposure to mud, water, insects, wildlife, and varying weather conditions.

Salary: Commensurate with experience (60,000-80,000)/year
