PARAEDUCATOR– FULL INCLUSION
Under the supervision of the school principal and under the direction of a classroom teacher, helps implement lessons and support inclusion students.
Specific duties shall be designated by the certificated employee to whom the Para Educator - Full Inclusion has been assigned. These duties shall be designed so as to complement the instructional program and to maximize the learning opportunity for the inclusion student. The scope of the responsibility and complexity of duties assigned to this position are with direction from the certificated employee.
Responsibilities and duties may include but not be limited to:
- Implement instructional procedures and record evaluative student performance data in general education classes and community settings; including support in the implementation of collection of data as it relates to students with Behavior Intervention Plans;
- Facilitate and support social interactions and foster the development of positive relationships between students with disabilities and their non-disabled schoolmates; utilize positive strategies to manage student behaviors;
- Assist other instructional team members (i.e., teacher, therapist, parents and administrators) to provide direct services and as a member of student planning teams;
- Support students to be active participants on field trips and school assemblies or productions; assist all students by modeling appropriate behavior and attitudes and provide emotional support and general guidance;
- As appropriate, assist with health care needs for students under the direction of the District nurse; assist student with daily personal necessities such as eating, accompanying them to the restroom (not to include diapering) and personal hygiene;
- Performclerical duties as needed;
- Attend meetings and in in-service training as assigned.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Demonstrates tolerant, accepting attitude toward all students and communicates respectfully and effectively with students and other staff members;
- Demonstrates willingness to carry out teacher-designed instructional procedures;
- Demonstrates a commitment to provide the assistance needed for students to be successful members of general education classrooms;
- Ability to learn systematic instructional procedures and strategies to facilitate social relationships between the students with disabilities and their non-disabled schoolmates; collaborative teaming skills; and positive management techniques for small groups in classroom, school, and community settings;
- Ability to speak effectively withfaculty, staff, and students, with a variety of ethnic backgrounds.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and work effectively under pressure.
- Ability to develop and maintain rapport with students, staff, and school officials.
- Maintain an above average attendance record.
- Ability to work in a one-to-one close relationship with inclusion students working in the classroom and attending to some personal student needs.
- Any combination of training and experience which will demonstrate the knowledge and abilities listed above.

● Mental acuity to collect and interpret data, evaluate, reason, define problems, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, make valid judgments and decisions;

● Physical agility to move self in various positions in order to execute duties effectively, which may include kneeling, walking, pushing/pulling, squatting, twisting, turning, bending, stooping, and reaching overhead; physical stamina sufficient to sustain light physical labor and remain in a stationary position for up to 8 hours;
● Physical mobility sufficient to move about the work environment (office, District, school site to site) for sustained periods of time on hard flooring, climb slopes, stairs, ramps and to respond to emergency situations; physical strength sufficient to push, pull, lift and/or carry 25 pounds of materials or supplies;
● Typical indoor work environment;
● The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $24.15 - $27.97 per hour
