The Apprenticeship Program:
This is a structured, paid apprenticeship designed to provide you with comprehensive, on-the-job training. You will work alongside our experienced providers and clinical staff to master the art of medical documentation, patient flow, and clinical support. This role is an excellent steppingstone for those pursuing future careers in medicine, physician assistance, nursing, or healthcare administration.
What You Will Learn & Do:
Under the guidance of our expert team, your apprenticeship will include learning to:
- Accompany providers into patient exams and accurately document the clinical encounter in real-time using our Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
- Master medical terminology, billing, and coding basics specific to rheumatology.
- Document patient orders for lab tests, radiology, and medications.
- Assist with clinical tasks such as reconciling patient medications, performing vitals, and maintaining exam rooms.
- Manage administrative duties including phone calls, informing providers of completed diagnostic studies, and checking insurance eligibility.
- Develop professional communication skills to interact effectively with providers, staff, and patients.
- Cultivate the ability to multitask and problem-solve in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Who You Are (Ideal Candidate):
- A recent high school graduate or current college student (Sophomore level or higher preferred).
- Pursuing a degree in Life Sciences, Pre-Med, Pre-PA, Nursing, or a related health field is a strong plus.
- A quick learner with a keen eye for detail and excellent record-keeping skills.
- A self-motivated and energetic team player who thrives in a structured, progressive environment.
- Possesses strong computer skills and can type at least 45 words per minute.
- Professional demeanor and a compassionate, patient-centered attitude.
Requirements:
- College Degree required, pre-med track preferred
- Must be able to stand and walk for long periods (up to 100% of an 8-hour shift).
- Ability to perform constant typing and data entry while listening to dictation.
- Ability to act calmly and effectively in a busy or stressful situation.
