Position Overview:
Support Staff - Dorm Parents are hardworking, organized, reliable, willing to go the extra mile, and ensure the safety and wellbeing of the students. Must have the ability to build a positive rapport with students, the ability to follow policies and procedures, to be flexible and challenge students when behaviors occur.
Job DutiesResponsibilities:

Creating safe environment where students can work on deficits and practice new behaviors

Develop a rapport with each student by being an active listener, provide support and assist the student(s)' reach their goals

Developmaintain an empathetic relationship with students

Empower students to practice self-advocacy skills
-
Assisting students with methods of building and maintaining interpersonal relationships
-
Assist students with homework assignments and school projects
-
Encourage students to utilize the Communication Model
-
Hold students accountable on the Residential Tier System
-
Report and document behavioral incidents
-
Utilize the internal Communication Log to document happenings on shift with appropriate communications
-
Meal preparation, cooking and serving daily by following menus/recipes provided
-
Student chore completion and rotationroom cleanliness
-
Encourage good student personal hygiene (showerslaundry)
-
Follow medical protocols, including supervising distribution of medications and completing medical incident reports
-
Screen materials brought in by students - confiscating any contraband
-
Ensure health and safety regulations are met in the dorm
-
Assist students prepare for travels on breaks
-
ReviewPost travel plans on student doors before breaks
-
Cooperate and participate with staff and students during shifts
-
Read and respond to emails daily while working
-
Assist in managing conflict resolution
-
Parent/family bi-weekly communications on student progress/behaviors via email or phone and document said communication
-
Attend weekly all staff meeting and Dorm Parent meetings
-
Food Safety and Sanitation Certification - put away and label groceries delivered
-
Weekly - food inventories, planimplement bonding activities, deep cleans, budget and shop for student necessities.

Attend 2 Family Weekends, Strategic PlanStudent Dances
-
Supervise Assistants and Overnight staff.
-
Re-visit trainings with staff when need arises
-
Create schedule for student laundry days
-
ReviewPost signage in all rooms to assist in chore completion
-
Teach students holistic modelcommunication model, follow and hold students accountable for the choices they make
-
Pick up mail and packages daily, supervise packages being opened in staff office
-
Know special health needs of students (allergic reactions to food, stings, meds etc.)
-
Respond in timely manner to all staff, administrators and parent requests
-
Submit maintenance and cleaning supply requests to facilities as needed
-
Outdoor supervision during free time
-
Participate in inservice trainings and weekly IHEP reviews for students with academic staff

Working Conditions and Hours:

Residential (dorm) setting

Scheduled for an average of 35 - 40 hours per week

Weekday evenings - Sunday - Thursday

Set 7 - 7.5 hour shifts

Educational Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent required

Preferred candidates pursuing higher educational degree in areas of, human services, outdoor education/recreation, physical education/training, social work, educational related fields, speechlanguage, rehabpsychology
Knowledge and Experience Preferred:

Experience working with Jr HighHigh School age students

Experience with learning differences

Experience with conflict resolution, problem solving and mediation experience
