L&S is looking for a Manual Machinist/Mechanic. We are seeking a self-motivated team member that has strong verbal and written communication skills, excellent organizational skills, likes to work with their hands, with the ability to work independently and multitask.
Responsibilities:

Performs all machining required on electrical and mechanical equipment.

Provides detailed drawings.
-
Responsible to know, understand, and use correct: quality standards, documentation, repair techniques, and job products/materials.
-
Assists supervisor in determining the best way to properly machine products.
-
Refurbish and repair rotating electrical apparatus.
-
Use of precision measuring devices to determine mechanical condition.
-
Operate specialized repair and testing equipment as needed.
-
Remove and replace shafts, bearings, gears, seals, and other components, referring to work instructions, blueprints, or service manuals as required.
-
Dynamic balancing of armatures or rotors.
-
Test/run rebuild equipment to verify operations and performance.
-
Record and maintain all applicable QA/repair documentation in an accurate and timely fashion.

Daily use of air tools (impact wrenches, die-grinders, blow guns), overhead cranes, and pressure washer and/or solvent based cleaners.

Promotes a strong safety culture and good company image.

Conduct daily/weekly maintenance inspections for equipment and record.
-
Adhere to standard operating procedures including quality (ISO 9001), safety, and environmental.

Has knowledge and skills to use all machine shop equipment.
-
Assist other shop departments with skilled or non-skilled duties as directed by supervisor or shop manager.

Able to be on-call rotation for weekend work.
-
Able to work overtime as designated by supervisor, by job requirements.
Requirements:
-
High school diploma or equivalent.
-
Math includes basic calculator functions as related to machining.
-
Must be able to read and understand job cards and descriptions of work to be carried out.
-
Calibrate, record calibration, and operate precision measurement equipment.
-
Valid driver’s license.
-
Must be willing to work overtime, weekdays, and weekends to meet customer service requirements.
Preferred:
-
Welding experience.
-
Good mechanical aptitude.
-
Knowledge of basic hand tools.
-
2-year associate’s degree in machine tooling techniques or equivalent experience in machining.
-
Previous experience operating manual lathes, including facing, boring, drilling, single point threading, and grooving.
-
Experience with rigging and lifting heavy loads, and operating overhead cranes.
-
Forklift experience.
Physical demands:
-
The employee is frequently required to stand and walk.
-
Able to stand on cement floors for up to 10 hours.
-
Frequent lifting, pushing and pulling of heavy objects with the assistants of an overhead crane.
-
Uneven or slippery walking surfaces.
-
Able to wear proper PPE (i.e. hearing protection, safety glasses, hard hat, etc.).
