Position Summary
The Staff Accountant supports the financial operations of the company by maintaining accurate financial records, managing job cost accounting, and ensuring timely reporting of project and company financial performance. This role is essential in tracking construction costs and maintaining strong internal controls in a project-based environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain, reconcile, and record labor, materials, subcontractors, and equipment costs by project for all active pool construction projects.
- Assist controller with budget vs. actual cost analysis for each project.
- Prepare work-in-progress (WIP) schedules and assist with project profitability analysis.
- Process accounts payable, including vendor invoices from suppliers of materials (concrete, tile, plumbing, electrical, etc.) and subcontractors
- Monitor change orders and ensure proper financial recording.
- Assist with customer invoicing based on project milestones or contract schedules.
- Manage accounts receivable, including customer billing milestones, draw schedules, and collections follow-up.
- Prepare and post journal entries as applicable.
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and loan accounts.
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
- Help maintain cash flow forecasts based on project schedules.
- Assist with sales tax tracking and reporting for materials and services.
- Support workers comp and insurance audit requests.
- Complete ad hoc analysis and projects, as needed.
- Ensure adherence to company purchasing and approval policies.
- Support company leadership in applying the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS) to drive clarity, focus, and execution across the business.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
- Minimum of 1-3 years of accounting or accounts payable experience
- Understanding of job costing, WIP (work-in-progress) schedules, and project-based accounting
- Experience in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Foundation, Sage, or similar platforms
- Experience with project management or construction software (e.g., Buildertrend, JobTread)
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office 365, especially Excel; familiarity with 90.io and AI-powered tools is a plus.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, project-driven environment
- Bilingual (English / Spanish) a plus.

Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
