Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Journeyman Diesel Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of diesel repair experience and possess advanced troubleshooting skills involving modern electronically controlled diesel engines. This position requires a highly skilled technician capable of diagnosing and repairing heavy-duty trucks, diesel-powered equipment, and related systems with minimal supervision.
The successful candidate must be proficient with OEM diagnostic software platforms, electrical troubleshooting, emissions systems, and all aspects of diesel engine repair, maintenance, and diagnostics.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain heavy-duty diesel trucks and equipment.
- Perform advanced electronic engine diagnostics using OEM software and diagnostic tools.
- Troubleshoot and repair engine performance issues, fault codes, electrical faults, communication network issues, and emissions-related failures.
- Perform engine overhauls, rebuilds, and component replacements.
- Repair and maintain fuel systems, cooling systems, air systems, and hydraulic systems.
- Diagnose and repair DEF, DPF, SCR, EGR, and other emissions control systems.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, wiring harnesses, sensors, switches, relays, and CAN bus communication networks.
- Perform transmission, clutch, driveline, differential, suspension, steering, and brake repairs.
- Conduct preventative maintenance inspections and services.
- Complete work orders accurately and document repairs, parts used, and diagnostic findings.
- Utilize wiring diagrams, service manuals, technical bulletins, and repair procedures.
- Operate diagnostic laptops, scan tools, multimeters, oscilloscopes, and specialty testing equipment.
- Ensure repairs are completed safely, efficiently, and according to manufacturer specifications.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Assist and mentor less experienced technicians when needed.
- Participate in ongoing technical training and certification programs.
Skills
- Minimum 10 years of verifiable diesel mechanic experience.
- Strong mechanical knowledge of heavy truck repair, farm machinery, industrial equipment, and automotive diagnostics.
- Journeyman-level diesel technician experience
- Advanced electrical and electronic troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to diagnose complex engine and aftertreatment system failures.
- Experience reading electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.

Must be able to:
- Retrieve and interpret fault codes.
- Perform calibrations and parameter changes.
- Run diagnostic tests and performance checks.
- Troubleshoot communication and electronic control system issues.
- Program and update ECMs when required.

Pay: $45.00 - $60.00 per hour
