The Basketball Scout is responsible for evaluating and identifying standout youth and high school basketball players during live tournament and showcase events. Scouts provide detailed player observations, rankings input, scouting reports, and media notes while helping maintain the organization’s evaluation standards and basketball credibility.
Responsibilities:
- Evaluate players during live games and showcases
- Identify standout prospects and emerging talent
- Take detailed notes on player strengths, weaknesses, motor, IQ, athleticism, and long-term projection
- Assist with regional and national player rankings
- Submit written scouting reports and player spotlights
- Collaborate with media staff on social content and player features
- Maintain professionalism with coaches, parents, and event operators
- Attend assigned tournaments, camps, and showcases
- Help identify players for invitation-only events and showcases
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong basketball knowledge and understanding of player development
- Experience playing, coaching, scouting, or covering basketball
- Ability to evaluate players beyond stats and highlights
- Familiarity with grassroots/AAU basketball culture
- Strong written communication skills
- Comfortable working in fast-paced gym environments
- Ability to travel to tournaments and weekend events
