Responsibilities
- Perform thorough diagnostics using schematics, automotive diagnostics tools, and mechanical knowledge to identify issues with diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, and air brake systems.
- Conduct repairs and maintenance on heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, farm machinery, and tractor-trailers.
- Fabricate parts or modify equipment using welding, soldering, power tools, and hand tools to meet specific operational needs.
- Execute routine inspections including tire service, shocks & struts replacement, alignment adjustments, brake repairs, and HVAC system servicing to ensure safety standards are met.
- Utilize heavy lifting techniques safely when handling large components or equipment during repairs or assembly tasks.
- Read and interpret schematics and technical manuals to troubleshoot electrical systems and perform electrical repairs on service technician equipment.
- Maintain detailed service records for each vehicle or piece of equipment serviced to track repairs, parts replaced, and maintenance schedules.
Requirements
- Proven mechanic experience with a focus on diesel engines and heavy equipment repair; dealership experience is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of automotive repair principles including transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, HVAC systems, and air brake systems.
- Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, soldering irons, and other maintenance tools.
- Ability to read schematics accurately and perform electrical diagnostics on complex machinery.
- Physical ability to perform heavy lifting and work in various environmental conditions safely.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to team members or clients.
Preferred
- Class B Commercial Driver’s License
