Position Summary
The Night Auditor is responsible for overseeing front desk operations during overnight hours while ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the hotel’s financial records. This role combines guest service responsibilities with accounting duties, requiring strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently.
Key Responsibilities
Front Desk & Guest Services
Provide exceptional customer service to guests during overnight hours
Perform guest check-ins and check-outs in a courteous and efficient manner
Handle guest inquiries, requests, and complaints promptly and professionally
Answer and direct phone calls; take reservations as needed
Ensure lobby and front desk areas remain clean, organized, and secure
Monitor guest activity and maintain a safe, secure environment
Night Audit & Accounting Functions
Complete the nightly audit process, including balancing all hotel accounts
Reconcile front desk transactions, including cash, credit cards, and third-party billing
Verify and post room charges, taxes, and other guest fees
Review and correct discrepancies in financial records
Generate and distribute daily financial and operational reports
Prepare end-of-day summaries for management review
Ensure all accounting procedures comply with company policies and standards
Operational Duties
Run system backups and ensure proper operation of property management systems (PMS)
Maintain accurate logs of incidents, guest interactions, and shift activities
Coordinate with housekeeping and maintenance teams regarding overnight issues
Assist with early morning guest departures and transportation requests
Ensure compliance with hotel policies, safety procedures, and emergency protocols
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree in hospitality, accounting, or related field preferred
Previous front desk, hospitality, or accounting experience preferred
Strong numerical and analytical skills
Proficiency with computers and hotel management software (PMS experience a plus)
Ability to work overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Physical Requirements
