Kern Medical is seeking an experienced Healthcare Application Analyst III to join our Information Technology team. This is a senior-level opportunity for an experienced healthcare applications professional who can independently manage complex system initiatives, troubleshoot application issues, partner with clinical and operational teams, and provide leadership and guidance to other team members.
Hybrid Work Arrangement
This position offers a hybrid work schedule with the flexibility to work remotely for a portion of the month.
The selected candidate will be required to work on-site at Kern Medical in Bakersfield, California, approximately one week per month and must reside within a reasonable commutable distance of Kern Medical.
This is not a fully remote position. Additional on-site presence may be required based on operational, project, implementation, upgrade, training, or system support needs.
What You'll Do
As a Healthcare Application Analyst III, you will:
- Analyze, plan, coordinate, implement, and support healthcare information systems and related applications.
- Serve as a senior technical and functional resource for assigned healthcare applications.
- Troubleshoot, document, and resolve complex application and system issues.
- Coordinate application installations, upgrades, testing, fixes, and implementations.
- Partner with clinicians, revenue cycle, ancillary departments, IT staff, and other stakeholders to identify system needs and develop solutions.
- Support data integrity, system security, reporting, interfaces, and application functionality.
- Provide ongoing training, guidance, and support to application users.
- Lead complex projects and assist with establishing priorities and project deadlines.
- Serve as a lead resource by assigning and monitoring work, training employees on work methods, mentoring team members, and providing direction.
- Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to resolve complex system and application issues.
- Identify opportunities to improve systems, workflows, policies, and procedures.

This recruitment is specifically seeking candidates who meet the qualifications and experience expected of a Level III Healthcare Application Analyst.
Candidates should bring significant healthcare information systems experience involving areas such as:
- Healthcare application implementation and support
- Systems and workflow analysis
- Project management
- Application troubleshooting
- System upgrades and testing
- Clinical, financial, revenue cycle, or hospital information systems
- Reporting and data analysis
- Working directly with healthcare operational and clinical stakeholders
- Mentoring or providing technical guidance to other team members
Level III Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must meet one of the following education and experience pathways:
Option 1:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Public Administration, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Nursing, or a related qualifying field, and six (6) years of qualifying paid healthcare information systems experience.
OR
Option 2:
Completion of two years of college or graduation from an accredited program in Management Information Systems or Computer Science, and eight (8) years of qualifying paid healthcare information systems experience.
OR
Option 3:
Ten (10) or more years of progressively responsible qualifying paid healthcare information systems experience.
Qualifying experience should include systems and procedures analysis, project management, systems support, implementation, or coordination of data processing operations within a healthcare environment. Experience may include Cerner Millennium or equivalent hospital, clinical support, or financial application systems.

Pay: $48.90 - $65.71 per hour

Application Question(s):
- Are you willing to work on-site approximately one week per month, and relocate to the Bakersfield area at your own expense, if necessary?
- Do you have at least six (6) years of experience supporting, configuring, and maintaining hospital information systems (HIS), including Oracle Health (formerly Cerner Millennium) or an equivalent system, as described for a Level III Healthcare Application Analyst? If yes, at what company or companies did you gain this experience?
- Describe your experience developing or supporting regulatory reports, population-health measures, care-gap reporting, or Oracle Analytics dashboards. How frequently did you perform this work, and how was the resulting data used?
- Describe your hands-on experience configuring and building Oracle Health/Cerner Millennium applications or an equivalent hospital information system. Please include a specific configuration change or enhancement you independently implemented, tested, and deployed.
- Describe your experience supporting interoperability through CommonWell, a health information exchange (HIE), or comparable clinical-data exchange technology. Please identify the employer and system where you performed this work and explain your responsibilities.
- Describe your experience configuring, maintaining, or supporting Oracle Health HealtheIntent or another population-health platform. Please identify the employer and platform where you gained this experience and explain your responsibilities.
- Describe a specific example of how you translated a clinical or operational workflow need into system-configuration requirements or explained a system change to nontechnical stakeholders. What was your role, and what was the outcome?
