Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dietary Cook to join our team in providing high-quality food service in a supportive environment. The ideal candidate will have experience in food production, preferably within assisted living, nursing homes, or hospital settings. This role is essential in ensuring that our residents receive nutritious and appetizing meals while adhering to dietary guidelines and safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook meals according to established recipes and dietary requirements
- Assist in meal planning and menu development that meets the nutritional needs of residents
- Ensure proper food handling, sanitation, and cleanliness in the kitchen area
- Maintain inventory of food supplies and assist with ordering as necessary
- Serve meals to residents while providing excellent customer service
- Collaborate with dietary aides and other kitchen staff to ensure efficient meal service
- Adhere to food safety regulations and maintain compliance with health standards
- Clean kitchen equipment, utensils, and dining areas after service
- Participate in training sessions related to dietary practices and safety protocols
Qualifications
- Experience in the food industry with a focus on culinary skills is preferred
- Previous experience in assisted living, nursing home, or hospital environments is a plus
- Strong time management skills to efficiently handle meal preparation and service
- Knowledge of dietary guidelines and food safety practices is essential
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment
- Excellent customer service skills to interact positively with residents and staff
- Familiarity with meal preparation techniques, including cooking, cleaning, and sanitation practices
- Previous experience as a dietary aide or within a dietary department is advantageous
