Job Title: Van Driver
Reports To: Principal
Work Days: Monday through Friday
Customary Work Hours: 6:15-7:30 AM and 3:00-4:30 P.M.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Must be a Christian
High School Diploma or GED
Valid Florida Driver’s License
Driving Record must clear of at-fault accidents and traffic citations
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
It is important for the School Bus Drivers to enjoy working with children and socializing with others so he/she can build trust and respect with the groups of students who ride the bus. He/she must be a good driver who obeys traffic laws and practices cautious driving habits to keep the passengers safe. The School Bus Driver needs to be aware of his/her surroundings, not only in traffic but to identify students who need help or are misbehaving. The driver must also have a good memory that allows him/her to carry out multiple different routes without forgetting a stop or making a wrong turn.
The driver will supervise students as they cross the street and enter or exit the bus, and greet them and manage their behavior during the bus ride. The Driver usually takes the same routes in the morning and afternoon each day but may adjust the schedule for extracurricular and special events. The other key role is to maintain the bus by keeping it clean, fueling it regularly and recording mileage.
ADDITIONAL EXPECTATIONS:
· Reflect the purpose of the school, which is to honor Christ during the route.
· Maintain daily log of students riding the van.
· Be a Christian role model.
· Develop and maintain rapport with students, parents, and staff by treating others with friendliness, dignity, and consideration
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $15.00 per hour
