Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and innovative English Language Arts Teacher to join our dynamic educational team. The ideal candidate will foster a stimulating learning environment that emphasizes critical thinking, literacy skills, and effective communication. This role involves integrating project-based learning methodologies and aligning instruction with our unique STEAD (Science, Technology, Environment, Agriculture, and Design) facility, which supports interdisciplinary exploration in Science, Food Science, Environmental Science, Animal Science, and Plant Science. The teacher will inspire students to develop their language arts skills while engaging with real-world applications across various scientific pathways.
Duties
- Deliver engaging and comprehensive English Language Arts instruction tailored to diverse student needs.
- Incorporate project-based learning strategies, leveraging experience with PBLWorks or openness to adopting such approaches to enhance student engagement and understanding.
- Collaborate with colleagues to design interdisciplinary lessons that connect language arts with science and technology topics supported by the STEAD facility.
- Facilitate a classroom environment that encourages critical thinking, creativity, and effective communication through various instructional methods.
- Assess student progress regularly through formative and summative evaluations, providing constructive feedback to support growth.
- Integrate reading, writing, speaking, and listening activities aligned with curriculum standards.
- Support students in developing skills necessary for academic success and lifelong learning in a STEM-focused setting.
- Participate in professional development opportunities related to project-based learning and interdisciplinary teaching approaches.
- Foster a positive classroom culture that promotes respect, collaboration, and curiosity about science and language arts.
Experience
- Prior experience teaching English Language Arts at the middle or high school level is preferred.
- Familiarity with project-based learning methodologies such as those promoted by PBLWorks is highly desirable; candidates open to embracing this approach are encouraged to apply.
- Experience working within or supporting STEM or STEAD environments is advantageous.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues across disciplines are essential.
- A passion for innovative teaching methods that integrate language arts with science, technology, environment, agriculture, and design is highly valued.
Pay: $57,185.00 - $70,000.00 per year
