Responsibilities
- Assist lead teachers in implementing age-appropriate activities that promote social, emotional, and cognitive development
- Support children during playtime, meal times, nap times, and learning activities to ensure their safety and well-being
- Help maintain a clean, organized classroom environment that encourages exploration and learning
- Observe and document children's progress, behaviors, and needs to inform teaching strategies
- Follow all safety protocols, including pediatric first aid and mandated reporting laws, to ensure a secure environment for all children
- Support children with special needs or disabilities by adapting activities and providing individualized care as directed
- Engage with children using positive behavior management techniques to foster respectful interactions and emotional regulation
Skills
- Knowledge of childhood development principles and early childhood education best practices
- Experience working with young children in daycare, preschool, nannying, babysitting or similar settings
- Familiarity with classroom management techniques and behavior management strategies
- Ability to perform first aid and pediatric first aid procedures confidently when necessary
- Strong understanding of working with individuals with disabilities and supporting inclusive learning environments
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with team members, parents, and children
- Commitment to adhering to mandated reporting laws and safety regulations related to childcare
