Job Summary
Sanbridge Early Learning Center is seeking a passionate, energetic, and dependable Before & After School Teacher to join our dynamic team supporting our school-age programs located at an elementary school in Laurel, Maryland.
The ideal candidate is a dedicated educator who enjoys working with elementary-aged children and is committed to creating a safe, welcoming, and positive learning environment before and after the school day. In this role, you will develop and implement engaging activities, support students’ academic and social-emotional development, provide individualized guidance, and collaborate with team members to ensure a high-quality program experience for all children.
The successful candidate will bring enthusiasm, creativity, and professionalism to the classroom while fostering a supportive environment where children feel valued, encouraged, and empowered to learn and grow.
Position Responsibilities:
Before & After School Teachers are responsible for supporting daily programming for school-age students (K-5), including:
- Creating a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment for children before and after school.
- Supporting students’ social-emotional, cognitive, and creative development through age-appropriate activities.
- Implementing lesson plans, enrichment activities, and curriculum-based experiences.
- Supervising children during arrival, dismissal, transitions, meals/snacks, homework support, and recreational activities.
- Building positive relationships with students, families, school staff, and program team members.
- Supporting classroom organization, safety procedures, and compliance with childcare licensing requirements.
- Communicating effectively with families and team members to support student success.
- Maintaining a professional, positive, and dependable presence as a representative of Sanbridge Early Learning Center.
Schedule:
This position follows a split shift schedule:
Morning Shift: 7:00 AM – 9:00 AM
Afternoon Shift: 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Teachers are expected to be available for both the morning and afternoon program sessions on scheduled days. Hours may vary based on site needs and enrollment.
Qualifications:
Candidates must be professional, enthusiastic, motivated, and committed to providing high-quality care and enrichment experiences for school-age children.
Required qualifications include:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Childcare experience required.
- School-age childcare experience preferred.
- 90-hour Child Care certification.
- 45-hour School Age certification.
- 45-hour Growth & Development certification.
- CPR/First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).
- ADA certification preferred.
- Medication Administration certification preferred.
- Basic Health & Safety training preferred.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with children, families, and team members.
- Basic computer skills preferred.
* Early Childhood Education degrees, college coursework, and continuing education training are a plus.
Employment Requirements
All candidates must successfully complete:
- Office of Child Care (OCC) licensing requirements.
- Criminal background check.
- Prince George’s County Board of Education background requirements.
- Medical clearance requirements.
