In this vital role, you will serve as the primary point of contact for patients regarding their dental treatment plans, ensuring clear communication, accurate documentation, and seamless coordination between patients and clinical staff. Responsibilities
- Review and explain treatment plans to patients, ensuring understanding of procedures, costs, and insurance coverage.
- Coordinate with dental providers to facilitate the development of comprehensive care plans tailored to each patient’s needs.
- Manage electronic health records (EHR) systems such as Epic, Meditech, eClinicalWorks, and Athenahealth to accurately document treatment details and patient information.
- Assist with medical billing processes, including coding using CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10 codes, and verifying insurance benefits such as Medicare and health insurance policies.
- Conduct documentation reviews to ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and clinical confidentiality policies.
- Communicate effectively via phone and in person with patients, insurance companies, and clinical staff to schedule appointments and follow up on treatment plans.
- Maintain organized medical records and ensure all documentation aligns with clinic standards for accuracy and completeness.
- Support front desk operations by providing excellent customer service, managing patient inquiries, and assisting with medical scheduling.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a dental or medical office environment with clinic experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, eClinicalWorks, or Athenahealth.
- Familiarity with medical coding including CPT, ICD-9/10 coding systems used in dental and medical billing.
- Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to review complex medical documentation accurately while maintaining attention to detail.
- Bilingual abilities are a plus to effectively serve diverse patient populations.
- Knowledge of health insurance processes including Medicare claims is desirable.
- Exceptional customer service skills with phone etiquette proficiency and professional communication style.
- Strong organizational skills with clerical experience in filing, typing (including 10 key), and health information management.
- Demonstrated understanding of clinical confidentiality policies and HIPAA compliance standards.
