Qualifications:
- Enrollment in or Possession of CDA required, AA in Early Childhood or higher preferred.
- Prior early childhood classroom experience preferred.
- The ability to work and communicate effectively with parents & young children.
- Home visitation experience preferred, particularly with young families.
Responsibilities
- Assist lead teachers with implementing daily lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards, including literacy, math, and social skills activities
- Support classroom management by maintaining a positive, inclusive atmosphere that promotes respectful behavior and cooperation among children
- Engage children in age-appropriate activities that stimulate curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking
- Help supervise children during indoor and outdoor play, ensuring safety and proper behavior management
- Support individualized learning needs by working with children with disabilities or special needs, including those on the autism spectrum or with other developmental challenges
- Assist with classroom organization, including preparing materials for lessons and maintaining a clean learning environment
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians about children’s progress and daily experiences
Skills
- Strong understanding of early childhood development principles and best practices in preschool education
- Experience with lesson planning across core subjects such as literacy education, math, and curriculum development
- Knowledge of classroom management techniques to foster a positive learning environment
- Ability to work effectively with children of various ages, including toddlers and preschoolers
- Familiarity with special education strategies and working with individuals with disabilities or autism spectrum disorder (ASD)
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with team members, parents, and specialists
- Experience in daycare or private school settings is preferred but not required
- Proficiency in behavior management techniques to support social-emotional development
