Sr Mechanical Design Engineer EIT/PE (Mission Critical Projects) - NYC (Hybrid)
We are seeking a Sr Mechanical Design Engineer with 6–10+ years of experience in the design Mission Critical Data Center or Healthcare projects including full-cycle project work, existing conditions assessments, design development, production of construction documents, and construction administration.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited university (Required).

7–10+ years of Mechanical (HVAC) engineering and design experience; Plumbing and Fire Protection experience is a plus.

EIT or PE License Desired
- Mission-critical project experience in Data Centers or Healthcare required.

Strong understanding of cross-discipline project coordination within an A/E environment.

Proven experience working on technically complex project types.

Ability to take ownership of tasks and interface effectively with clients, architects, and multidisciplinary teams.

Skilled in presenting design options to internal teams, architects, and clients for review and evaluation.

Capable of managing multiple design and construction projects simultaneously within a collaborative team environment.

Detail-oriented with strong time-management and budgeting skills for meeting project schedules and deliverables.

Field experience with a solid understanding of construction methods, principles, and best practices.

Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD MEP 3D, Navisworks, Bluebeam Revu, Procore, Prolog, and MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Duties:
- Lead mechanical project design and development from concept through construction; serve as a senior technical engineer on assigned projects.

Oversee, manage, and mentor mechanical engineering team members.

Conduct engineering studies to assess existing systems and recommend solutions addressing performance improvements, energy goals, equipment replacement, end-of-life planning, spatial constraints, and project timelines.

Perform engineering calculations, including load calculations, equipment selection, psychrometric analysis, pressure-loss calculations, duct sizing, fixture loading, energy analysis, and specification writing.

Prepare comprehensive construction documents (drawings and specifications), addenda, bulletins, and transmittals.

Identify value-engineering opportunities and constructability enhancements for internal and third-party–designed projects.

Attend and participate in design and construction meetings; coordinate with architects, clients, project managers, and other trades throughout all project phases.

Review and respond to RFIs, submittals, contractor inquiries, and design-change requests; issue formal responses and approvals as needed.

Conduct field surveys, site assessments, construction observations, punch lists, and data collection at project sites.

Ensure compliance with International, National, State, and Local Codes, including NYC Mechanical, Building, Energy Conservation, Fire Protection Codes, NFPA standards, and all applicable rules and regulations.

Complete all code-required energy compliance documentation, LEED calculations, and associated certifications.
