Payroll Manager
We are seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to serve as the primary payroll subject matter expert for our organization. This role is responsible for delivering accurate, timely, and fully compliant payroll operations, troubleshooting complex issues, managing payroll data and reporting, and collaborating with internal teams to enhance accuracy, consistency, and overall efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the internal payroll system to ensure smooth operation and adherence to all federal and state regulations by implementing controls, monitoring outcomes, and partnering with Human Resources.
- Identify business needs and provide solutions through detailed analysis, system configuration, and testing of processes.
- Work closely with various departments to identify and drive process improvement opportunities.
- Coordinate with external consultants to address and resolve technical payroll system issues.
- Respond promptly to inquiries and maintain strong communication with internal stakeholders.
- Act as the go-to expert for complex payroll processing and procedural guidance.
- Manage the full cycle of payroll data collection, calculation, validation, and entry.
- Prepare both recurring and ad-hoc payroll reports for leadership, finance, HR, and other teams.
- Provide backup support for end-to-end payroll processing, including paycheck issuance and direct deposits.
- Process employee record changes such as exemptions, benefits, deductions, and tax information.
- Perform payroll account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain, review, and update payroll procedures and documentation.
- Safeguard employee privacy and ensure strict confidentiality of all payroll information.
- Handle special adjustments including third-party sick pay to support accurate W-2 reporting.
- Contribute to team objectives by sharing knowledge and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum 5+ years of advanced payroll processing experience (strong preference for ADP Workforce Now).
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
- Deep knowledge of payroll laws, FLSA regulations, and multi-state payroll compliance.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent ability to communicate complex topics clearly to non-technical audiences.
- Experience leading cross-functional projects is a plus.
- Willingness to work occasional extended hours when required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
