Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and highly experienced Director of Public Works to lead and oversee the operation, planning, design, construction, and maintenance of civil infrastructure systems and projects within our community. This pivotal role requires a proactive leader with a strong background in employee management, project management, and public infrastructure systems. As the Director, you will champion innovative solutions for stormwater management, water and wastewater treatment, transportation systems, and land development initiatives. Your expertise will drive efficient project execution, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and foster collaborative relationships with customers and stakeholders to enhance community resilience and sustainability.
Duties and Qualifications
- Lead the planning, design, and construction management of civil infrastructure projects including roads, stormwater systems, water treatment facilities, and land development projects.
- Ability to operate and assist in maintaining a variety of heavy equipment (CDL preferred but not required)
- Ability to create and follow a budget
- Oversee project scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation to ensure timely delivery of high-quality infrastructure solutions.
- Coordinate permitting phases involving local agencies and ensure all projects meet environmental regulations and safety standards.
- Engage with stakeholders through clear communication of project scope, progress updates, technical reports, and system design proposals.
- Ensure compliance with federal/state regulations related to civil infrastructure projects.
- Ensure daily maintenance of city property, buildings, and easements.
- Manage employees and ensure they have a positive work environment and perform efficiently
- Proven experience managing large-scale civil engineering projects from conception through completion within a municipal or public sector environment.
- Knowledge of civil infrastructure including stormwater systems, water/wastewater treatment facilities, road construction, and land development processes prefered
- Excellent communication skills
Pay: $23.00 - $27.00 per hour
