The Burgettstown Area School District anticipates the need for a dedicated and passionate Art Teacher to join our team. This is a full-time position with assignment to be determined. The successful candidate will provide engaging and creative instruction that fosters artistic expression, critical thinking, and appreciation for the visual arts. The teacher will work to create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment where all students are encouraged to develop their artistic abilities and confidence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement engaging art lessons aligned to Pennsylvania Academic Standards for the Arts and Humanities.
- Provide instruction in a variety of artistic media, techniques, and art history concepts.
- Create a classroom environment that encourages creativity, collaboration, and artistic exploration.
- Assess student progress and provide meaningful feedback to support artistic growth.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs and abilities of students.
- Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and support staff to enhance student learning and school culture.
- Maintain accurate records and effective classroom management procedures.
- Promote and display student artwork through classroom and school-based exhibitions when appropriate.
Qualifications:
- Must possess a valid Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) certification endorsed for Art (CSPG 31).
- Preference is for a candidate with a degree in Art Education.
- Strong instructional and classroom management skills required.
- Experience working with students across multiple grade levels preferred.
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of various artistic media, techniques, and instructional strategies.
- Ability to foster creativity and self-expression in students of varying skill levels.
- Experience integrating technology into art instruction and student projects.
- Familiarity with digital art platforms, design software, and adaptive learning tools.
- Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to create an inclusive and supportive classroom environment.
- Experience planning and coordinating student art displays or exhibitions preferred.
- Commitment to continuous professional growth and innovative instructional practices.
- Flexibility and adaptability in response to student needs and curriculum initiatives.

In addition to a starting salary in 2026-2027 of $47,561.00 (salary is greater depending upon degree(s) earned and years of service in Pennsylvania) and a 186 day work year, all teachers are eligible for comprehensive medical coverage for themselves and their families with a very reasonable premium share (as low as $53.06/month for individual coverage), may participate in a flexible spending account, are issued a laptop computer and an iPad, and may receive tuition reimbursement for advanced study.
