Barenberg Eye Associates is seeking a motivated, professional, and patient-focused Front Desk Lead to join our growing practice. We are looking for someone who enjoys leading by example, thrives in a fast-paced medical office, and is passionate about delivering exceptional patient care.

Previous ophthalmology or optical experience is strongly preferred but not required—we are willing to train the right candidate.
Position Summary
The Front Desk Lead serves as the first point of contact for our patients while providing leadership and support to the front desk team. This position is responsible for ensuring smooth daily operations, maintaining excellent customer service, and helping create an efficient and welcoming environment for both patients and staff.
Responsibilities
- Lead and support daily front desk operations.
- Welcome patients with a friendly, professional, and enthusiastic attitude.
- Check patients in and out efficiently while providing exceptional customer service.
- Answer and direct incoming phone calls.
- Schedule appointments accurately according to provider templates.
- Verify and confirm medical, vision, and routine eye exam insurance benefits prior to patient appointments.
- Collect copays, deductibles, balances, and other patient payments.
- Maintain accurate patient demographics and insurance information.
- Assist with medical billing tasks, payment posting, and claim-related inquiries as needed.
- Coordinate with providers, technicians, and optical staff to ensure efficient patient flow.
- Resolve patient concerns professionally and escalate issues when appropriate.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional front desk and reception area.
- Assist with scanning, filing, faxing, and other administrative duties.
- Train and mentor front desk staff while promoting teamwork and accountability.
- Ensure HIPAA compliance and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the practice.
QualificationsPreferred
- Previous experience in an ophthalmology, optometry, or optical practice.
- Medical billing and insurance verification experience.
- Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems.
- Prior leadership or supervisory experience is a plus.
