Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Sleep Technologist to support our sleep center operations on a per-shift basis. The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of sleep medicine, physiology, and diagnostic evaluation techniques. This role involves conducting sleep studies, monitoring patients during sleep, and ensuring accurate data collection to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders.
Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for sleep studies by explaining procedures and ensuring comfort and safety.
- Conduct overnight polysomnography (sleep studies) while monitoring patients’ vital signs, respiratory patterns, and physiological responses.
- Operate specialized sleep monitoring equipment accurately and troubleshoot technical issues as they arise.
- Record detailed observations related to sleep stages, breathing patterns, and other relevant physiological data.
- Collaborate with physicians and healthcare team members to ensure comprehensive diagnostic evaluations.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient data and study results in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Ensure the sleep environment adheres to safety protocols and hygiene standards at all times.
- Assist in patient assessments including physical examinations related to sleep health when necessary.
Experience
- Prior experience working in a sleep center or conducting sleep studies is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of respiratory therapy techniques and physiology related to sleep disorders.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, vital signs monitoring, and physical examinations.
- Strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, and sleep medicine principles.
- Experience with diagnostic evaluation tools used in sleep disorder assessments is advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with patients and healthcare professionals.
- Certification as a Sleep Technologist (e.g., RPSGT) or equivalent credentials are desirable but not mandatory.
