Position Summary
The Warehouse Manager oversees all warehouse operations, including inbound and outbound shipments, equipment inspections, warehouse records, safety compliance, staff training, and operational efficiency. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring active involvement on the warehouse floor alongside employees to drive productivity, monitor performance, and foster a culture of accountability and teamwork. The position is responsible for warehouse operations, safety, staffing, equipment maintenance, and continuous process improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Manage all warehouse operations, including receiving, storage, inventory control, and outbound shipments.
Verify and audit shipment documentation and warehouse records.
Monitor shipment volumes and ensure appropriate staffing levels.
Assign crews to inspect, load, vault, and prepare shipments.
Coordinate shipment pull schedules for upcoming deliveries.
Investigate shipment shortages, overages, and claims-related issues.
Supervise warehouse personnel and assign daily responsibilities.
Schedule and document inbound and outbound warehouse activities.
Train warehouse employees on packing procedures, safety standards, and forklift operations.
Enforce warehouse security and safety policies.
Oversee equipment usage, maintenance, and preventative maintenance schedules.
Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient warehouse and yard environment.
Recommend operational improvements to enhance efficiency and productivity.
Maintain low claims ratios and high-quality operational standards.
Operate forklifts and oversee forklift safety and maintenance procedures.
Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent.
3–5 years of warehouse or distribution experience.
Previous supervisory or management experience.
Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification.
Experience managing shipping, receiving, inventory, and warehouse personnel.
Key Skills & Experience
Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, inventory control, shipping/receiving, and logistics processes.
Understanding of warehouse safety standards, OSHA regulations, and forklift operations.
Hands-on leadership style with the ability to lead by example.
Proven ability to train, coach, and develop warehouse staff.
Strong team-building and employee management skills.
Ability to identify inefficiencies and improve workflow processes.
Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
Proficiency with warehouse management systems and Microsoft Office applications.
