Duties
- Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures, including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, surgerical procedures
- Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, ensuring all equipment is sterilized following infection control protocols.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray imaging) while maintaining proper safety standards and aseptic techniques.
- Manage patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Dentrix, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Perform vital signs assessments and document medical history to support comprehensive patient care.
- Support front desk operations by greeting patients, scheduling appointments, and managing dental receptionist duties.
- Educate patients on post-treatment care, dental terminology, and preventive practices to promote oral health awareness.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant or in a similar dental clinic setting with knowledge of dental assisting procedures.
- Proficiency with EMR systems such asr Dentrix; familiarity with Epic or other medical documentation platforms is a plus.
- Strong understanding of infection control practices, aseptic technique, and sterilization procedures.
- Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to dentistry.
- Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently during procedures involving endodontics, prosthodontics, pediatrics, and general dentistry.
- Experience with medical imaging equipment including 3D scanners and X-ray machines; certification in radiography preferred.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members including dental receptionists and hygienists.
- Certification in CPR or BLS is desirable; familiarity with HIPAA compliance is essential for handling medical records securely.
