Logan Industries Inc., a leading manufacturer of high-quality utility truck bodies, is seeking a dedicated Heavy Equipment Operator & Driver to join our team in Independence, MO. In this role, you will be instrumental in the smooth operation of our manufacturing facility. Your primary responsibilities will include safely operating heavy equipment (such as forklifts and loaders) to move truck bodies and materials, while also delivering units to customers within 250 miles. This position requires a strong commitment to safety, efficiency, and teamwork in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and a Class A CDL.

Key Responsibilities
Equipment Operation & Material Handling
You will be responsible for the safe and precise operation of heavy equipment, primarily forklifts and loaders, to transport truck bodies, service bodies, and crane bodies across the facility. This includes maneuvering large, heavy components safely through the shop and yard, ensuring no damage occurs to the products or property. You will also coordinate with the manufacturing team to position materials exactly where they are needed for assembly and finishing processes.
Shipping & Receiving Support
A critical part of this role involves assisting the logistics team with daily deliveries. You will actively load finished truck bodies onto transport vehicles and unload incoming raw materials and parts. Verifying delivery manifests against received goods to ensure accuracy and reporting any discrepancies or damaged items to the supervisor immediately is also required.
Delivery of Completed Units
There will be an occasional delivery of a completed body via flatbed. Please ensure that you have a Class A CDL prior to applying.
Qualifications and Requirements
To be successful in this role, candidates should possess the following qualifications:
- Experience: A minimum of 2-3 years of proven experience operating heavy equipment, specifically forklifts and loaders, in a manufacturing, construction, or warehouse setting.
- Certifications: Valid forklift certification is highly preferred. OSHA safety training is a plus.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly. The role requires extended periods of sitting (while operating equipment), standing, walking, bending, and working in various weather conditions in an open yard.
- Skills: Strong spatial awareness and precision when moving large objects. Excellent communication skills to coordinate with team members and truck drivers. Basic mechanical aptitude to perform routine equipment checks.
- Attributes: A proactive approach to maintaining cleanliness and organization. A strong safety-first mindset and reliability.
Pay: $23.00 - $27.00 per hour
