Duties
- Greet patients warmly and professionally, establishing a friendly and welcoming atmosphere
- Schedule appointments using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth
- Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance eligibility and benefits verification
- Manage patient check-in and check-out processes with accuracy and attention to detail
- Handle multi-line phone systems with excellent phone etiquette, directing calls efficiently
- Maintain accurate medical records, ensuring proper documentation review and filing in systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft
- Assist with medical billing, collection processes, and coding tasks including CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10 codes for procedures and diagnoses
- Support clinical staff by preparing intake forms, updating care plans, and managing patient information securely in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Perform office management duties such as filing, data entry, and managing medical office supplies
- Coordinate with insurance providers for claims processing and follow-up on unpaid accounts
Experience
- Previous clinic or medical office experience is highly preferred, especially in a front desk or administrative support role
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, Dentrix or Eaglesoft is essential
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), and medical billing procedures
- Experience verifying insurance benefits and Medicare claims processing is advantageous
- Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and typing (10-key) skills
- Bilingual (Spanish & English) abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively
- Demonstrated customer service skills with the ability to handle multi-line phone systems professionally
- Office management or clerical experience within a healthcare setting enhances your candidacy
