American Traveler is seeking an RN for a Med/Surg Surgical Unit night shift position requiring 2 years of experience and an active NM or compact RN license.

,Works on the Surgical Inpatient Unit (3rd floor) of a Level III trauma center that also cares for Level I and II trauma cases
-
24-bed unit specializing in Ortho/Neuro Surgery along with Medical/Nephrology patients as needed
-
Cares for adult patients ranging in age from 18 to 100+
-
Patient ratio of up to 1:6 with frequent admissions and discharges throughout the shift
-
Uses IV pumps and vital sign monitors
-
Charts using the Cerner EHR system

Night shift schedule (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM) on a 13-week assignment
-
Requires at least 3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule
-
No on-call requirements
-
May float to sister units including Medical/Nephrology/Inpatient Rehab, Cardiology (lower acuity patients), Med/Surg, or Pediatrics (adult patients only)

Active RN license (NM or Compact) required

BLS certification required

Minimum 2 years of RN experience required

Post-operative patient care experience required, including ortho/neurosurgical/abdominal surgeries

Experience with NG tubes, chest tubes, foley catheters/TURPs, and respiratory care required

Experience managing diabetic patient care, sepsis, alcohol withdrawal, rib fractures, altered mental status, and pain management required

Strong customer service and patient experience skills preferred

Provide post-operative and medical/surgical nursing care to a mixed patient population on the Surgical Unit

Serve as Charge Nurse as part of role responsibilities

Work as part of a collaborative team and follow all facility policies and guidelines

Located in Farmington, New Mexico, in the San Juan River Valley near outdoor recreation including hiking, kayaking, and national parks
