Overview
Join our dedicated team as a Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides direct supervision, support, and care to children in residential, community-based, school, or home settings. The DCP helps children develop life skills, maintain safety, achieve treatment goals, and improve their overall well-being while promoting positive behaviors and healthy development
Duties
- Provide daily supervision and ensure the safety and well-being of children.
- Assist children with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and household responsibilities when appropriate.
- Implement individualized treatment plans, behavior support plans, and service goals.
- Teach and reinforce positive social, communication, and coping skills.
- Support children in educational, recreational, and community activities.
- Monitor behavior and intervene appropriately during crises using approved de-escalation techniques.
- Document daily activities, incidents, progress notes, and behavioral observations accurately and timely.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and structured environment.
- Communicate effectively with families, case managers, therapists, teachers, and other team members.
- Transport children to appointments, school, recreational activities, and community events as required.
- Serve as a positive role model by demonstrating professionalism, respect, and appropriate boundaries.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required; associate's or bachelor's degree in Human Services, Psychology, Social Work, Education, or a related field preferred.
- Experience working with children, adolescents, or individuals with behavioral or developmental needs preferred.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in stressful situations.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to pass criminal background checks and required screenings.
- CPR, First Aid, and Crisis Intervention certifications preferred or willingness to obtain upon hire.
Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
