American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a NICU position at a Level I Pediatric Trauma Center, requiring RRT certification and pediatric critical care experience.

Work in the NICU at a 323-bed inpatient facility with 70 NICU beds
-
Level I Pediatric Trauma Center, teaching and Magnet-designated hospital
-
Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
-
3 or 4 shifts per week with every other weekend required
-
Guaranteed 36 hours per week with up to 48 hours available
-
Floating required within scope to NICU/PICU/CICU across all ages, no floating to sister facilities
-
No on-call requirements

Uses Cerner charting system
-
Pediatric and neonatal patient population
-
Active RRT certification required
-
BLS and PALS certifications required prior to start

NRP certification preferred
-
DC RRT license required if applicable, pending license accepted

Minimum 1 year of experience required, 3+ years recent experience strongly preferred for first-time travelers

NICU/PICU experience preferred
-
Pediatric experience strongly preferred

Trauma Level I experience preferred

Cerner charting experience preferred

Prior travel experience required

Skilled in ventilator management including BiPAP, CPAP, and high frequency oscillator
-
Experience with ABG interpretation and weaning from mechanical ventilation
-
Experience with neonatal/pediatric equipment including CPAP/Nasal CPAP/BiPAP and umbilical blood gases
-
Skilled in airway management including extubation, suctioning, and tracheostomy care
-
Provide respiratory therapy care to critically ill neonatal and pediatric patients
-
Work as part of a pediatric critical care team
-
Perform medication administration and delivery via aerosol, MDI, and other systems
-
Manage patients requiring bronchoscopy, nebulizer therapy, and oxygen therapy including HFNC
-
Complete pre-start training modules prior to orientation, averaging 20+ hours
-
Scrubs must be any solid color with no logos, child-friendly attire required
-
Local candidates accepted at the travel rate with no mileage restriction
-
Returning travelers must have been separated from the facility for at least 1 year
-
Maximum time off is 3 shifts for 13-week contracts or 8 shifts for 26-week contracts
-
Full week of RTO requires extending the contract to make up missed shifts
-
No RTO approved during specified peak holiday periods including late August/early September, Thanksgiving week, and the December holiday period

Every other weekend and holiday coverage required, with one guaranteed holiday preference
