Pharmacy Technician Oral Dispensing - Oncology
- RETENTION BONUS: $1,000.00
Under direct supervision of a Pharmacist, the Oral Pharmacy Technician fills routine orders for unit dosage and prepackaged pharmaceuticals.
The Oral Pharmacy Technician performs the technical, non-judgmental aspects of medication preparation, distribution, record keeping and inventory control.
The Oral Pharmacy Technician also aids other medical personnel such as physicians and nurses.
Job Responsibilities include:
· Assist the Pharmacist with preparing filling and dispensing medications.
· Verify patient demographics, insurance information and prescription information.
· Maintain patient records, set up, package, and label medication doses.
· Check for drugs interactions.
· Calculates correct dosage volumes, converting between metric and apothecary equivalents.
· Enters the drugs and doses, ordered for patients into the Lynx medication cabinet for documentation and billing purposes.
· Reviews EMR to retrieve order information.
· Clean pharmacy equipment on daily basis as stated in policy and procedures.
· Keeps accurate temperature logs of refrigerator.
· Performs daily set up for pharmacy including restocking.
· Receives and shelves medications.
· Assist pharmacy manager in ensuring that standard drug supplies are in adequate supply.
· Processes daily returns from other clinics and place back into inventory.
· Performs efficient data entry into systems used by pharmacy and admixture.
· Receive new drug education to remain abreast of new information.
· Maintain confidentiality of all information related to patients and medical staff.
· Knowledge of metric and apothecary systems of weights and measurements.
· Knowledge of medical safety standards to assist in manufacturing and working with pharmaceutical substances.
· Ability to read and interpret prescription information.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
NECESSARY SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS, AND PERSONAL QUALITIES
· High school diploma or equivalent required.
· Certified Pharmacy Technician certificate or State Pharmacy Board requirement recommended.
