Little Railers Daycare is seeking a dependable, flexible, and motivated team member to join our program as a Float / Afternoon Teacher / Substitute working with children ages 0–5. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys variety, works well with a team, and understands the importance of reliability and consistency in a childcare environment.
This role provides support throughout the day by assisting classrooms as needed, filling in for staff absences or breaks, and ensuring a smooth transition into the afternoon as lead teachers depart for the day.
Perffered Hours: 9:00am-5:30pm
Responsibilities:
- Float between classrooms (ages 0–5) providing support where needed
- Substitute in classrooms during staff absences, breaks, or vacations
- Take over classrooms in the afternoon as scheduled teachers depart
- Assist with implementing age-appropriate activities, routines, and lesson plans
- Supervise children while maintaining a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment
- Maintain KDHE licensing regulations, classroom ratios, and health and safety standards
- Assist with classroom organization, cleaning, and end-of-day closing duties
- Support meal, diapering, potty training, nap, and outdoor routines as assigned
- Build positive relationships with children, families, and coworkers
- Use positive guidance techniques and appropriate behavior management strategies
- Communicate effectively with classroom teachers and administration to ensure consistency in care
- Uphold Little Railers' values, policies, and professional standards
Qualifications:
- Reliable, punctual, and dependable
- Flexible and comfortable working with all age groups (0–5 years)
- Ability to quickly adapt to different classrooms, schedules, and daily needs
- Experience working with young children preferred
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Positive attitude and willingness to help wherever needed
- Ability to multitask while maintaining a calm and organized environment

Pay: $11.00 - $14.00 per hour
