Education: MSN or DNP from an accredited program
Licensure: RN license + national NP certification (AANP, ANCC, APRN, etc.)
Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Qualifications & Skills
- Master's or Doctoral degree in Psychiatric Nursing
- Certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC)
- Current license to practice as a Nurse Practitioner
- Certification by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or another relevant certifying body
- Graduate from an accredited nurse practitioner program with a focus on psychiatry
- Experience in a clinical psychiatric setting
- Experience in our willingness to work with some abuse and IDD populations and all ages
- Knowledge of current mental health laws and ethical standards
- Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems
- Experience with a diverse patient population
- Leadership and management abilities
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a psychiatric setting
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Commitment to providing high-quality, patient-centered care
- Bilingual in Spanish is a plus
Key responsibilities include:
- Patient Assessment and Diagnosis: Conducting mental health evaluations, psychiatric assessments, and risk assessments for conditions such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, ADHD, and substance use disorders
- Treatment Planning and Implementation: Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests (labs, imaging, EKGs
- Developing individualized care plans, prescribing medications, and providing psychotherapy or counseling as appropriate
- Patient Education and Support: Educating patients and families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and coping strategies
· Collaboration and Supervision: Working with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals; supervising registered nurses or nursing assistants when necessary
Pay: $123,119.53 - $148,272.98 per year
