We are hiring a Utility Worker experienced installing meters, replacing worn gaskets, tightening loose valves, lubricating pumps, and changing mechanical seals, checking mechanical gauges, reading meters, and reporting equipment noises or leaks to operators. You will perform troubleshooting, predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance for all equipment used in the treatment, collection, and distribution of water, wastewater, and reclaimed water.
Key Responsibilities
- Systems & Operations: Operate lift stations, monitor SCADA systems, and manage emergency bypass pumping.
- Maintenance & Calibration: Clean, calibrate, and adjust chemical feed systems;
- Inspections & Data: Understand specs, perform inspections, collect samples, and maintain the distribution log book.
- Hands-on Repairs: Execute electrical, mechanical, and plumbing troubleshooting; install and repair utility services.
- Customer & Field Work: Accurately read meters, perform turn-ons/offs, exercise valves, and inspect fire hydrants/manholes.
- Safety & Compliance: Implement all safety protocols, wear required PPE, and complete facility housekeeping.
Schedule & Shift Requirements
- Flexibility is Key: Requires evenings, weekends, and holiday shifts.
- On-Call Ready: Must be available 24/7 for utility anomalies and emergencies as scheduled by the Utility Director.
- Attendance: Regular, in-person, timely attendance is strictly required.
What You Need:
- Technical Skills: Strong background in equipment maintenance (pumps, motors, generators, valves).
- Software: Proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
- Traits: High attention to detail, safety-conscious, and customer-oriented.
