American Traveler is hiring a Chemo Certified Oncology RN with BMT experience for a teaching hospital position requiring 2 years of specialty experience and a DC RN license.

Work on the BMT/Oncology unit within a short-term acute care teaching hospital
-
402 staffed beds facility
-
Patient ratio of 1:4-5
-
Rotating day and night shifts (3x12 hours), 7:30-18:00 and 18:30-7:00
-
Weekend rotation required approximately every other weekend, based on unit needs
-
Required to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity level
-
Uses Cerner charting system
-
Initial schedule set based on unit needs, with future schedules balanced according to nurse preferences and unit requirements

Active DC RN license required in hand prior to start date (pending license may be accepted)
-
Current BLS certification required
-
ONS Chemo certification required
-
BSN and OCN certifications preferred
-
Minimum 2 years of specialty experience in Hematology/Oncology or BMT required
-
BMT experience required
-
Strong Med/Surg experience considered in lieu of direct oncology experience

At least one previous travel assignment required (or one month of per diem experience)

Skilled in chemotherapy administration, IV starts, and port access/management
-
Experience with telemetry and interpretation of dysrhythmias required
-
Two supervisory references required, including one from the most recent assignment
-
Must support at least 2 years of experience within the previous 3 years
-
Administer chemotherapy and manage oncology/BMT patient care
-
Perform IV starts, port access, and dysrhythmia interpretation/management
-
Flu vaccine required for all employees at this facility
-
Scrubs not provided; any color accepted as long as free of other hospital logos
-
Local candidates within 60 miles accepted at a local rate
-
Candidates with previous MedStar employment must have been separated for at least one year before returning as a traveler
-
No RTO permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment
-
Maximum RTO of 7 days per 13-week contract
