The Traveling Superintendent is responsible for overseeing all on-site construction activities, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, and to quality standards. You will serve as the primary field leader, coordinating subcontractors, enforcing safety protocols, and maintaining clear communication with project teams and clients.
This role requires extensive travel and on-site presence throughout the duration of assigned projects.
Key Responsibilities
Lead all on-site construction activities for big box and retail projects, including ground-up and renovation work.
Manage day-to-day field operations, subcontractors, and site logistics.
Develop, maintain, and enforce project schedules with a strong focus on milestone and turnover dates.
Enforce jobsite safety programs and ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety standards.
Coordinate inspections, permitting, and compliance with local jurisdictional requirements.
Review construction documents, drawings, and specifications to ensure accurate execution.
Conduct daily site walks and progress reporting.
Collaborate closely with Project Managers, Project Engineers, and client representatives.
Identify and proactively resolve field issues related to constructability, sequencing, and schedule impacts.
Oversee quality control, punch lists, and project closeout activities.
Maintain professional relationships with owners, inspectors, and trade partners.
