Responsibilities
- Install, splice, and test fiber optic cables with precision using specialized tools and techniques such as fiber splicing and termination.
- Set up and configure network equipment including Cisco routers, switches, and Ethernet components to ensure optimal connectivity.
- Conduct network installation activities for telecommunication systems, including cabling, low voltage wiring, and telephony setups.
- Use hand tools, ohmmeters, and other electrical testing devices to diagnose issues and verify system integrity.
- Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on existing fiber networks and related hardware in the field.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure safety protocols are followed during all installation activities.
- Document all work performed accurately in reports and logs for quality assurance and future reference.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a service technician or field installer within telecommunication or networking environments.
- Strong mechanical knowledge of cabling systems, electrical components, and low voltage wiring.
- Skilled in fiber splicing techniques along with a solid understanding of Ethernet, telephony, and network protocols.
- Familiarity with Cisco routers, switches, and general computer networking concepts.
- Ability to operate hand tools effectively and safely in various field conditions.
- Electrical experience or certification is highly desirable; familiarity with ohmmeters or similar testing devices is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail; ability to work independently or as part of a team.
