We are seeking an experienced, dependable, and personable Bartender who shares our commitment to outstanding customer service and community.
Position Summary
Champaign VFW Post 5520 is looking for an experienced bartender with 2–4 years of bartending experience to join our team. The ideal candidate is friendly, professional, and capable of independently managing bar operations with minimal supervision. This role is responsible for creating a welcoming atmosphere while ensuring responsible alcohol service and maintaining a clean, organized bar.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages in accordance with Illinois liquor laws and VFW policies.
- Deliver outstanding customer service to VFW members, their families, and guests.
- Operate the cash register/POS system and accurately process cash and credit card transactions.
- Open and close the bar following Post procedures.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized bar and dining area.
- Restock beer, liquor, wine, mixers, and other bar supplies.
- Verify customer identification and ensure responsible alcohol service.
- Monitor inventory and notify Post leadership when supplies need replenishing.
- Perform routine cleaning and assist in maintaining a welcoming environment throughout the Post.
- Represent Champaign VFW Post 5520 in a professional and courteous manner at all times.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2–4 years of bartending experience required.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Must possess a valid Illinois BASSET Certification or be able to obtain certification before the first day of employment.
- Previous experience handling cash and operating a POS system.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Dependable, honest, and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30 pounds.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and occasional special events.
