US Migraine is a healthcare services company dedicated to helping chronic migraine patients access advanced neuromodulation treatment. Our multidisciplinary team coordinates every step of the patient journey — from initial consultation through psychiatric evaluation, trial, and permanent implant — working closely with implanting physicians, patient care coordinators, and facility partners to deliver a seamless, compassionate care experience.
Position Overview
We are seeking a licensed Psychiatrist or Licensed Psychologist to join our clinical team as a Psychiatric Evaluator. In this role, you will conduct pre-procedure psychological evaluations for patients being considered for neurostimulation therapy (spinal cord stimulation and related migraine treatment devices), assessing patient readiness, identifying contraindications, and providing clear documentation to support the clinical decision-making process alongside our implanting physicians.
Key Responsibilities
● Conduct comprehensive psychological evaluations for patients referred following their neurology/pain consultation, prior to trial or permanent device placement.
● Assess for psychiatric contraindications (e.g., unmanaged mood disorders, active substance use, unrealistic treatment expectations) that may affect candidacy or outcomes.
● Document findings and recommendations in a clear, timely report shared with the referring physician and care coordination team.
● Collaborate with Patient Care Coordinators and implanting physicians to communicate evaluation outcomes and any recommended follow-up (e.g., additional treatment, delayed candidacy).
● Maintain evaluation turnaround times that support the clinical scheduling timeline for trial and permanent procedures.
● Ensure documentation meets payer and regulatory requirements for prior authorization and medical necessity.
Qualifications
● M.D./D.O. (Psychiatry) or Ph.D./Psy.D. (Clinical Psychology) with active, unrestricted license in Texas.
● Prior experience conducting pre-surgical or pre-device psychological evaluations strongly preferred (e.g., spinal cord stimulation, bariatric, or similar candidacy assessments).
● Familiarity with chronic pain, migraine, or neuromodulation patient populations a plus.
● Strong written communication skills for clear, payer-ready clinical documentation.
● Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary care team and coordinate around scheduling timelines.
Schedule & Setting
This is a flexible, part-time or contract, fully remote role. Evaluations are conducted via telehealth, depending on patient needs and scheduling. We work with providers to establish a consistent weekly or biweekly cadence that fits their practice.
Pay: $125.00 per hour
