We're looking for a Working General Manager who is ready to lead from the front. This is not a desk job. You'll spend time in the field with the crews, coach employees, solve problems, improve systems, and ensure every customer receives an exceptional experience.
Position Summary
The Working General Manager is responsible for the daily operations of Local Roots Lawn Maintenance. You'll oversee crews, maintain quality standards, improve efficiency, train employees, communicate with customers, and ensure jobs are completed safely and profitably.
The ideal candidate is equally comfortable running a mower, coaching employees, meeting with customers, reviewing schedules, and solving operational challenges.
ResponsibilitiesOperations
- Lead daily crew meetings and organize work schedules
- Ensure crews arrive on time and are properly equipped
- Maintain high-quality workmanship on every property
- Perform lawn maintenance, landscaping, and enhancement work as needed
- Jump into the field whenever additional leadership or manpower is required
- Monitor productivity and labor efficiency
Team Leadership
- Hire, train, and develop crew members
- Hold employees accountable to company standards
- Conduct performance reviews
- Foster a positive, team-first culture
- Lead by example through professionalism and work ethic
Customer Experience
- Resolve customer concerns quickly and professionally
- Meet with prospective customers when needed
- Perform quality control inspections
- Build long-term customer relationships
Business Management
- Manage daily schedules using Jobber
- Coordinate equipment maintenance and repairs
- Monitor labor hours and job profitability
- Work with ownership to improve systems and processes
- Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and operational planning
Qualifications
- 3+ years of lawn care or landscape management experience
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Valid driver's license with clean driving record
- Ability to operate commercial lawn equipment
- Comfortable working outdoors in Texas weather
- Able to lift 50+ pounds
- Computer and smartphone proficiency
