Job Summary:
About the Role
The core focus of this role is to cultivate a sense of belonging and foster a warm atmosphere of hospitality within the residence hall community. Responsibilities include overseeing day-to-day operations, nurturing a welcoming environment conducive to student growth, and ensuring the recruitment, training, and supervision of student staff members. This role also serves as the primary administrator for student conduct matters, manages administrative tasks related to hall operations, and actively supports student learning through the Residence Life curricular approach.
What You'll Do

Support the mission and vision of Concordia College and demonstrate the competencies as defined for this position.

Student Staff Supervision (30%)

Provide initial and ongoing training for staff

Hold weekly staff meetings
-
Meet individually with student staff for the purpose of supervision, support, and information sharing
-
Provide on-going feedback
- Residential Curriculum (15%)
-
Utilize various educational strategies to meet the departmental student learning goals
-
Support student staff in their work with the Residential Curriculum
-
Work with the Assistant Director to assess and review the various components of the Residential Curriculum
-
Community Building (15%)
-
Advise in-hall student leadership opportunities
- Promote a positive hall environment (socially and environmentally)
-
Provide all students a sense of belonging, regardless of their identity or background
-
Student Support and Emergency Response (10%)
-
Assist with resident conflict resolution
-
Respond to emergency or crisis situations
-
Meet individually with students who need support and/or referrals to campus resources
-
On a rotational basis, serve as a departmental on-call staff member
-
Student Conduct (10%)
-
Train student staff to enforce college policies
-
Meet with students who are involved in policy violations
-
Use Restorative Justice practices, when appropriate, in adjudicating student conduct
-
Work closely with Director of Student Conduct
- Manage administrative tasks and procedures related to hall operations (10%)

Complete maintenance work orders, duty logs, fire alarm reports and other necessary forms
-
Manage hall budget and student reimbursement requests
-
Administer room change protocol and submit appropriate paperwork
-
Assist with resident check-in and check-out during openings and closings as well as breaks
-
Participate in Departmental and Campus-Wide Initiatives (10%)
The individual in this role is required to reside in an on-campus apartment, which will be provided at no cost.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

Familiarity with the residential college environment
