Ministry with Community (MwC) is a non-profit organization located in Kalamazoo, MI. We are a daytime shelter and resource center, open 365 days a year from 6:30 am-4:00pm. The mission of MwC is to empower people to make positive life changes. Position overview
The Security Manager will serve in all Security roles while also serving as the leader of the Security team. Assist members in accessing all services within the agency, while being proactive in resolving any safety concerns throughout our facility and on our property. The Security Manager will deploy team members, monitor and review tasks so that team members can consistently produce the best, safest experience for volunteers, members and co-workers in a clean, respectful environment. This position will be familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures such as de-escalation, mental health crisis response, relations with community law enforcement, and excellent customer service, relying on experience and judgment to accomplish a safe, comfortable environment. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
Security Manager must demonstrate compassion, integrity and trust. This individual must uphold the highest standards of ethics and values in alignment with the mission of Ministry with Community.
This is a full-time position. Ministry with Community is open 6:30am-4:00pm hours may vary.
Position Requirements
· 18 years of age or older
· At least three years of security experience
· Ability to quickly and effectively communicate with others. Multiple languages and sign language not required, but beneficial
· Ability to effectively use a computer for receiving and sending email, using electronic calendars, writing incident reports, etc.
· Occasionally lifting/moving objects of up to 50 pounds at one time
· Ability to travel around all areas of MwC facility and outside property
· Ability to see and hear the environment in order to monitor well-being of members, volunteers, interns, community partners/outreach workers and staff and identify adverse situations
· Ability to learn quickly (desire to continue learning) and exhibit creative problem-solving
· Strong organizational skills and ability to juggle multiple tasks
· Commitment to the highest level of customer service for both internal and external customers (staff, members, volunteers, colleagues)
· Ability to be on your feet for an extended period
· Commitment to diversity and customer service
Performance Expectations:
1. First and foremost, places MwC member needs and the MwC mission front and center in all processes, decisions, tasks, work and efforts
2. Engages in Security staff recruiting, training, coaching and performance reviews
3. Maintains Security staff Training Passport, Security Policies and Procedures Manuals, and security camera storage
4. Leads regular Security Team meetings with support of the Operations Director
5. Engages in weekly and other regular department staff and all-staff meetings
6. Establishes working relationships with our members to best serve their needs
7. Has the ability to be proactive; to see and deal with potential safety issues before they arise
8. Uses best practices of de-escalation and crisis management to maintain a calm, safe environment
9. Assures that the Security Team adheres to daily checklists to ensure basic and critical security and safety
10. Provides hands on help whenever needed in assisting members, volunteers, and donors at the using the highest standard of customer service, treating everyone with courtesy and respect
11. Positively responds to direction and requests for assistance from co-workers, supervisors, and guests
12. Supports and upholds MwC community expectations in a timely fashion, using excellent conflict management and interpersonal communication skills
13. Ensures an environment of dignity and respect for all individuals
14. Has open availability including weekends and holidays
15. Performs other duties as assigned
Success Patterns:
Safety and Security
· Oversee the team responsible for MwC’s overall safety and comfortable environment
· Secure premises and personnel by patrolling property; monitoring surveillance equipment; inspecting campus facilities, equipment and access points, indoors and outdoors
· Protect MwC’s property/equipment relative to theft, assault, fire and other safety issues
· Maintain MwC’s integrity and reputation by following best practices
· Contribute to team effort through effective communication, helping in other areas whenever possible, and being consistent with MwC guidelines and policies
· Practice best methods of communication, internal and external, via radio and/or cell phone
· Completes Incident Reports by recording details of unwanted activity, providing as many accurate points of information as possible
· Respond to emergencies to provide necessary assistance to members, staff, volunteers
· Provide excellent customer service (to members, co-workers, volunteers, vendors)
· Promote teamwork and a positive work environment focused on the needs of the members and colleagues. Resolve conflicts in a professional manner.
· Consistent adherence to Opening and Closing Checklists, which includes light cleaning and opening and closing tasks for the building
· All other duties as assigned
