Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate biligual Medical Assistant/Receptionist to join our healthcare team. This vital role combines front-office administrative support with clinical assistance, ensuring smooth patient flow and delivering exceptional care. The ideal candidate will be energetic, detail-oriented, and committed to providing outstanding patient service in a fast-paced medical environment. You will be the first point of contact for patients, managing appointments, handling medical records, and supporting clinical procedures across various specialties including allergy, asthma, and immunology.
Duties
- Greet patients warmly, verify their information, and assist with check-in and check-out processes using Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems such as EMR/EHR platforms.
- Schedule appointments efficiently while managing patient flow to minimize wait times.
- Collect patient vital signs, perform intake assessments, and document medical histories accurately.
- Prepare patients for examinations by explaining procedures and assisting with basic clinical tasks such as taking blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates.
- Support clinical staff with procedures including phlebotomy, medication administration, X-ray preparation, and basic physiology assessments.
- Maintain detailed and organized medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations and ICD coding standards.
- Handle administrative duties such as answering phones, managing patient inquiries, verifying insurance information, and processing billing or payment transactions.
- Assist with laboratory tasks like specimen collection or processing when necessary.
- Support hospital or outpatient clinic operations by coordinating with multidisciplinary teams and ensuring adherence to safety protocols including Basic Life Support (BLS) standards.
Requirements
- Prior experience in a medical setting such as medical clinics, hospital medicine units, urgent care centers, or outpatient clinics is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-10 coding, and EMR/EHR systems is essential and referrals.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is required; additional certifications such as certified Medical Assistant is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to provide excellent patient service with strong communication skills and a caring attitude.
- Ability to multitask efficiently in fast-paced environments.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in managing medical records and administrative tasks.
- Bilingual is preferred.
