The Purchasing Manager is charged with the responsibility for managing and optimizing our materials supply chain, ensuring delivery of materials, steel, supplies, and services enabling the company to meet internal needs and customer specifications cost effectively. The Purchasing Manager will maintain the appropriate levels of inventory to keep production running smoothly and avoid late deliveries.
The Purchasing Manager reports directly to the Director of Operations.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must demonstrate the ability to manage multiple relationships with key partners, suppliers and vendors as well as analyze information and make sound, rational decisions with significant authority of spend.
The Purchasing Manager must possess excellent communication and analytical skills, demonstrate a strong technical aptitude and a passion for continuously improving their knowledge, skills and abilities.

- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- ERP system experience; MRP & Inventory management modules
- Ability to multitask and perform under pressure
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles a plus
- Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or related field. (Required)
- CPIM, CSCP or CPM certification preferred
- Minimum 2-5 years of experience in buying steel, materials planning, inventory control or procurement
The primary responsibility of the Purchasing Manager is to maintain a strategically selected sourcing network and execute day-to-day procurement activities of all production raw material, purchased components and MRO items. Specific responsibilities include:
- Monitor inventory levels and initiate procurement to maintain optimal stock
- Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery and resolve supply issues
- Analyze inventory data to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for improvement
- Collaborate with procurement, production, and logistics teams to align material flow
- Maintain accurate records of inventory, purchase orders, and delivery schedules

Implement cost-saving strategies and sustainability initiatives in material handling and inventory management

Conduct regular audits to ensure data integrity and compliance with industry standards
- Monitors supplier on-time delivery performance through Supplier Relationship Management System
- Seeks sourcing relationships and provides cost estimates for raw materials and outside processes based on customer request for quote information
- Optimizes ordering routines to ensure uninterrupted and timely delivery of supplies
- Assists Supply Chain Director with quarterly raw material demands to aid in market adjusted re-pricing exercises
