We are seeking a motivated, organized, and detail-oriented Expeditor/Buyer to join our Operations team. This role is critical to maintaining production schedules by ensuring materials and services are delivered on time while supporting procurement activities and building strong supplier relationships.
Primary Responsibilities
The Expeditor/Buyer is responsible for monitoring supplier performance, expediting open purchase orders, and ensuring materials arrive on schedule to support manufacturing. This position works closely with suppliers and internal departments to identify and resolve delivery issues while also supporting purchasing activities, including sourcing materials, creating purchase orders, and maintaining accurate purchasing records.
Essential Duties
- Monitor supplier lead times and proactively expedite open purchase orders to meet production requirements.
- Communicate regularly with vendors to confirm delivery commitments and resolve delays.
- Update job status reports and notify the Materials Manager of significant changes to supplier delivery dates.
- Source materials, components, and services that meet quality, cost, and delivery requirements.
- Create and maintain purchase orders with a high level of accuracy.
- Work closely with Purchasing, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Production Planning to resolve material shortages and expedite critical components.
- Coordinate with Finance to resolve invoice discrepancies and purchasing-related issues.
- Develop and maintain positive supplier relationships while identifying opportunities for improved pricing, quality, and delivery performance.
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of purchasing, expediting, or supply chain experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read and interpret bills of materials (BOMs), engineering drawings, and technical prints.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
