The School-Based Occupational Therapist (OT) supports students in developing the skills necessary for academic success and participation in the school environment. This role focuses on improving fine motor, sensory processing, self-care, and functional skills to help students access their educational program.
Duties/ Responsibilities:
Provide occupational therapy services to students as outlined in their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)

Conduct assessments and evaluations to determine students’ functional needs

Develop and implement individualized treatment plans and goals

Collaborate with teachers, paraprofessionals, behavior teams, and related service providers

Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to goal development and progress reporting

Provide consultation and training to school staff on strategies to support student success

Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including service logs and progress reports

Support students with sensory regulation, fine motor skills, handwriting, and daily living skills

Adapt classroom materials and environments to meet student needs

- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and district guidelines
Required Skills/Abilities:
Ability to move, lift, and position students as needed

Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods

Fine motor skills for documentation and therapy activities

Experience with sensory integration techniques

Familiarity with assistive technology and adaptive equipment

- Ability to manage caseloads and prioritize tasks effectively
Education/Experience & Other Requirements
Current state licensure as an Occupational Therapist

Experience working in a school or pediatric setting (preferred)

Knowledge of special education laws, including Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)

- Strong communication and collaboration skills
Working Environment:
School-based settings (elementary, middle, or high school)

May require travel between school sites within the Paramount School District
