Job Overview
We are looking for someone to join our small seacoast dental practice as a dental assistant and become a vital part of delivering exceptional oral healthcare! In this role, you will assist Dr. Reed and his team throughout patient procedures and provide outstanding patient care. Your enthusiasm and attention to detail will help create a welcoming environment where patients feel comfortable and confident in their dental experience.
Responsibilities
- Assist Dr. Reed with chairside procedures for procedures in general dentistry
- Take and develop dental X-rays using digital radiography and 3D scanners, ensuring accuracy and patient safety
- Manage patient records efficiently using Dentrix maintaining clinical confidentiality policies at all times
- Prepare treatment rooms and sterilizing dental instruments according to infection prevention management protocols and aseptic techniques
- Provide patient management support by taking vital signs, explaining procedures clearly, and ensuring comfort throughout visits
- Support dental reception duties by scheduling appointments, updating medical documentation, and managing patient flow with professionalism
- Adhere to HIPAA regulations and dental terminology standards to ensure compliance and effective communication within the team
Requirements
- Range of dental experiene welcome from no experience to long-term experience in dentistry
- Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment with knowledge of general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, and other specialties
- Proficiency in dental equipment operation including X-ray machines, sterilization tools, and 3D scanners
- Strong understanding of infection control practices, dental sterilization procedures, aseptic techniques, and healthcare infection prevention standards
- Familiarity with dental assisting procedures such as four-handed dentistry and chairside assisting techniques
- Ability to navigate patient management software like Dentrix confidently for scheduling and record keeping
- Knowledge of dental terminology, medical documentation practices, and medical coding relevant to dental care
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain treatment plans clearly to patients
- Certification in X-ray technology or radiography is highly preferred; additional certifications are a plus
- Commitment to maintaining clinical confidentiality policies while providing compassionate patient care
