Dana Transport has an opening for a skilled Tractor-Trailer Mechanic to join our team at our Grove City, OH terminal. As a Tractor-Trailer Mechanic, you’ll be responsible for maintaining and repairing our fleet of tractors and trailers- both in-house and on the road- to ensure safe, compliant, and reliable operations. This position also includes recordkeeping/compliance and welding tasks.
Responsibilities of the Tractor-Trailer Mechanic:
Maintenance & Repairs
- Inspect and service tractors and trailers at prescribed intervals.
- Perform necessary repairs to ensure equipment safety and functionality.
- Test-drive vehicles for diagnostic and post-repair purposes.
- Perform welding, brazing, and cutting tasks using gas and electric equipment.
Recordkeeping & Compliance
- Maintain detailed records of service, maintenance, costs, and inspections.
- Comply with company policies, safety directives, and regulatory standards, including brake inspection and tank entry programs.
CDL Mechanic Duties (if applicable)
- Drive commercial vehicles for diagnostic purposes or as part of road calls.
- Conduct roadside repairs and return vehicles to the facility.
- Transport operational vehicles to assist drivers with broken-down equipment.
Qualifications of the Tractor-Trailer Mechanic:
- Driver’s License (passenger) in good standing (required for company-related driving).
- CDL for operating trucks on public roads a plus.
- Strong diagnostic skills (mechanical, electrical).
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and instruments.
- Welding experience (MIG on stainless, mild steel) preferred.
- Must have a complete set of mechanic’s tools.
- Formal apprenticeship or internal mechanic training preferred.
- Minimum 1 year of diesel engine repair required; experience using diagnostic tools (Davie 4, JPRO) preferred.
- Minimum 1 year experience with cargo tank inspections/testing is a plus.
- Must pass required non-DOT drug screen and physical exam (DOT if CDL applies).
